Another Mother of Sandstorms Hits Kuwait

Mega Sandstorm in Saudia Heads This Way

Better Books Drama Workshop

Ramadan Ready in City Centre and Souk Salmiya Except for One Small Corner

Review: Toni and Guy Hair Salon, Shaab

Impressive 3-storey building in a quiet area with ample parking. A bonus.

The cutest little outdoor seating area to chillax in.

I made an appointment the day before via phone. I did try to call back and got no answer only to realise they have early closing times, something to keep in mind.

A great impression as we walked in the black, grey and chrome interior is super sleek. The staff are all immaculately turned out and are professional, super efficient and punctual. The facilities and treatment rooms are spotless, cosy and welcoming.

Emma, the manageress, did my babygirl's balayage. Immediately I was put at ease when I saw her own fabulously coloured hair. Emma was businesslike, rarely talking, thorough and reassuring with her expertise. She did a fabulous job.

Missy loving the whole experience.

Leah, British hair stylist who was sweet, chatty and full of good hair care tips and advice gave my daughter a beautiful blow-out and then curled it into gorgeous beach waves. If this is a look you long for then Leah is your lady.

Meanwhile, Mumma got some semi-permanent lashes which as they fall out over a 2-3 week period you go back and replace them (no, you don't have to save yours that fall out they will give you new ones). I've done these before but it was a while ago and everyone was raving about the new mink lashes that look and feel great.

Preetha did my lashes and they are okay but not as natural looking as I had expected especially as there are no far side lashes and the length is a bit long. Not really her fault about the length as I chose them but I now know to choose shorter than a size 9. At least they don't bother me with my glasses on which is what I was most bothered about.

Semi-permanent lashes which are discounted for
the month of April.

My princess off to the school prize giving looking gorgeous with her new shiny
locks. We did have to re-curl her hair as they had fallen out overnight.

The bill. Eeeeeeek!
More than I had anticipated but
a stress-free experience and fantastic hair aren't cheap.

I finally managed to get a pic that shows the colours. We did take plenty of pics but the lighting didn't really show off the subtle, natural-looking balayage. She loves it, and I have never seen her hair look so amazingly glossy.

Overall a 9/10

I'm not complaining about the price but it was more than I was expecting. Having Emma is a pricey privilege. I had not realised the blowout and curling were not included in the price so take note. But you pay for quality and that is what I felt we got.  The smile on my daughter's face and her oozing confidence were priceless.

Ramón Aular, born in Venezuela, has developed his artistic career between the United States, Europe and, in the last years, an important presence in Lebanon. His compositions, with a predominant use of gold, are a metaphor of life. His surroundings, his desires, are a reflection of that indissoluble bond between his roots and what surrounds him. The use of color takes us to places of dreams, where everything is possible.

The National One Roof Campaign to Empower Domestic Workers with Their Rights, Spread Awareness of Human Rights and Improve Peaceful Coexistence

"One Roof" is a campaign that aims to raise awareness about domestic workers’ rights. This campaign is a product of a partnership between the Social Work Society of Kuwait and the Human Line Organization in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior. "One Roof" campaign will provide a complete, precise, and sufficient legal guide to all domestic workers and their employers in an effort to reduce the conflicts that might ensue between sponsors and workers due to their unfamiliarity with the current laws that regulate domestic work in Kuwait. Through pamphlets printed in 15 languages, lectures, panel discussions, short videos and a media campaign, to be geared on a national level, both sponsors and domestic workers will learn more about their rights and responsibilities within the current institutional and legal framework. This campaign moreover aims to change social perceptions and attitudes toward domestic workers to ensure tolerance and justice for all those who live in Kuwait.

Objectives

  • To ensure that all domestic workers and employers are familiar with the Kuwaiti laws and procedures pertaining to domestic workers' rights.
  • To lead society towards accepting domestic work as an occupation, which requires regulation by laws and policies.

Organizers of One Roof Campaign

The Social Work Society (SWS) is a Kuwaiti civil society founded in 2005 that focuses on protecting, supporting, and providing services to victims of human rights violations and those who have been marginalized and subjected to unequal or selective applications of Kuwaiti laws.

Through the provision of social services, legal representation, and promoting policy reform SWS aims to ensure that basic rights of vulnerable groups are supported and recognized in accordance with international laws and standards.

Objective

To abolish the “Kafala” system of private sponsorship and provide legal and social services to migrant and domestic workers.

The Human Line Organization was established in 2012. It is a civil society organization committed to enhancing and advocating human rights. The organization works on raising awareness, providing training on human rights concepts and procedures, legal observing of human rights violations, and the preparation of human rights reports. It also aims to provide solutions to these violations and further the culture of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and constructive dialogue.

Objective
Spread the culture of human rights between all segments of Kuwaiti society.

LWDLIK - Bravo! A great initiative. I love these people. I've only met Bibi Nasser, an awesome lady, and if anyone can make this succeed she can. Best of luck all. Let me know if I can help in any way.
