International Youth Day 2011

On Thursday, August 11 at 9:00pm. Location United Nations House, Mishref, Block 7, Diplomatic Square. (Opposite GUST).

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kuwait is glad to invite you to its first ever celebration of International Youth Day. In a bid to further expand its youth programme, UNDP Kuwait is throwing the world-renowned PechaKucha night for youth to attend. Comedienne Hoda Marafie will be the hostess for the evening.

International Youth Day is an opportunity to express, raise awareness and become aware of development issues as it relates to Kuwaiti youth.

This event is intended to symbolize our commitment to inspire youth to become conscientious, active, global citizens who are contributing members of the general community. We will use this occasion to celebrate young people who are positively contributing to their personal and community development locally and internationally.

Specifically, the event will provide a platform to highlight the following themes:

* The exhibition hall will sample government institutes, civil societies and private companies that provide a programme for youth in Kuwait locally and internationally.

* PechaKucha 20x20 is a simple presentation format where 20 images are shown, each for 20 seconds. The images forward automatically as the presenter talks about them. The speakers will feature a sample of active, dedicated and inspirational young people who are significantly contributing to their community’s development. Using this occasion to celebrate their achievements, they will also bring to light the challenges they faced during their journeys.

* Art statement is an interactive piece where young people can express inspirational messages to other youth. It is intended to be a symbol of the youth in Kuwait's commitment to further contribute to development.
