Eid Al-Adha 'Festival of Sacrifice' is a religious holiday to commemorate Ibraham's (AKA Abrahim in the other two good books) willingness to sacrifice his son as requested by God, before God intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice instead. The meat is divided into 3 equal parts. The family retains 1/3 of the share, 1/3 for relatives, friends and neighbors and the other third is given to the poor & needy.
